Do the first checks yourself when the question is clear and you can access the evidence safely. Buy a diagnostic when a defined existing journey needs investigation. Commission implementation when the required change is already understood and someone needs to build and verify it.

Our interest in this comparison

Track & Optimize sells a scoped tracking diagnostic and separately scoped implementation. We wrote this article, so it is not an independent review of our service. The comparison below is intended to help you decide whether you need paid help at all. It does not rank providers or claim that our work produces better business results.

Compare deliverables before comparing fees

Choose the work that matches the uncertainty
ApproachUseful whenExpected output
DIY or internal reviewYour team understands the setup and can perform safe checks.A documented finding or a more precise question.
Paid diagnosticThe cause or next action is uncertain within a defined existing journey.Evidence, limitations and prioritized next checks.
ImplementationThe change and acceptance criteria are clear.A reviewed change, validation evidence and maintenance handoff.
Broader ongoing supportYou need repeated monitoring, several journeys or wider campaign operations.A separately agreed operating scope; a small diagnostic does not include this.

Your current developer, agency or internal analyst may already be the best person to do the work because they know the system and can access it appropriately. Ask them for evidence and a clear scope before hiring someone else. A second provider is useful only when it resolves a capability or capacity gap.

An executable first check

  1. Choose one action: for example, a contact inquiry saved successfully. Write what confirms success in the business system.
  2. List the intended measurement destination and event name. Do not start with every platform at once.
  3. Review existing configuration and available diagnostic records without changing it.
  4. Plan a safe authorized test, including email, payment, booking or fulfillment side effects.
  5. Compare the source record with the event evidence. Label sent, received, processed and attributed separately.
  6. Write the narrowest unresolved question and the evidence needed to answer it.

Google's GA4 DebugView documentation explains a tool for inspecting debug-mode events. A visible event is useful collection evidence, but does not by itself prove your business record, final reports or campaign goals are correct. Use our safe test guide before creating production test activity.

Three different requests hidden inside “fix tracking”

Illustrative scenario A: your developer confirms that a form event fires on a click before validation. The required change is understood: move measurement to the agreed success signal and test failure and repeat cases. A clearly scoped implementation may be more useful than buying a separate diagnostic.

Illustrative scenario B: saved inquiries exist, but no one knows whether the CRM integration triggered, whether the destination received them or which campaign uses the action. Investigation is needed before choosing a repair. A bounded diagnostic can help identify the next justified step.

Illustrative scenario C: two reports differ because they use different date or attribution settings, and your analyst can demonstrate the difference. You may need a reporting agreement rather than new code or a paid investigation. Keep the explanation and revisit it only when new evidence contradicts it.

What our US$195 diagnostic includes

The Track & Optimize diagnostic reviews one existing website or funnel journey, one selected ad platform/account and up to three agreed events. One existing GA4 property is reviewed where relevant. We agree the systems, access, safe test route and delivery date before work begins.

The deliverable is written evidence and a prioritized fix plan, including uncertainty and inaccessible areas. If the agreed checks reproduce no fault, that is a valid result. The fee is US$195; any applicable tax is shown before payment. Implementation, extra journeys, CRO and ongoing ad management are separate work.

This scope does not promise a discovered defect, identical platform totals, complete attribution, higher revenue or a particular ranking. An emergency outage, unsupported custom system or broad forensic investigation needs another scope. The audit-report guide shows what useful evidence should look like.

What to ask any provider

  • Which journey, systems and events are included?
  • Does the fee cover investigation, changes, or both?
  • What access and safe testing are required?
  • How will observed facts be separated from possible explanations?
  • What happens if no fault is reproduced or evidence is inaccessible?
  • Who owns rollback and future maintenance?

If you already have those answers and the ability to do the work, proceed with your team.
